Outdoor Ed Days!!

Skiing is very important to those living in the Vail Valley. It is a vital part of our economy and is a great source of entertainment. Because skiing and other outdoor winter activities are so important to the valley, our school gives the students and staff an opportunity to strap on our skis, tie up our ice skates, and clip on our snow shoes about once a week for a day of fun and fellowship. Last Friday we had our first Outdoor Ed day of the season. All of the teachers and students in grades 3-8 met at the base of one of the runs at Beaver Creek, formed groups, found their parent chaperon, and hit the slopes for a day of fun. The young ones (kinders, first, and second) spent the afternoon at the ice skating rink instead. They will go skiing like the older kids after they take a couple of lessons next month. In fact, for a couple of days in February all of the kids K-8 will be in ski school while the teachers take part in professional development days. Hooray for snow covered mountains and smooth, icy rinks. I can't wait for the next Outdoor Ed day!!
