Steamboat Springs

On Sunday evening, we were hanging out in the lobby with our concierge, Jimmy. Jimmy is a wealth of information and a lot of fun to talk to. Well, on this particular night Jimmy was checking out some of the "local" attractions and asked us if we had ever visited this place called Strawberry Park Hot Springs. Strawberry Park has a more natural feel then the hot springs in Glenwood. Rock gardens, waterfalls, and forests rather than one large pool. Once he showed us pictures of the pools and surrounding area, we were sold. So, on Monday morning we packed our suits and made our way to Steamboat Springs, about 90 miles north of Vail. It was a really beautiful drive through a lot of farmland and uninhabited mountain sides. Before heading to the hot springs, we decided to do a little Geocaching. Andy had visited the area a couple of months ago but had only looked for 2 of the many caches in the area. We also called a friend who had recently moved to Steamboat Springs and decided to meet her for lunch. After lunch she joined us on our voyage to the hot springs. It turned out to be quite a journey-we had to drive down a winding dirt road to get to the springs. Apparently it's one of those "4-wheel drive only" roads in the winter. Anyway, the springs were absolutely beautiful and we had a great time spending time with our friend for a couple of hours. It was definitely nice to get away for a little while. The hot springs were beautiful!!











The area was surrounded by rocks, trees, and waterfalls that allowed the water to flow from the pool at the top to the river down below.






There was a cache (an Altoids container in this case) hidden inside of this horse statue.

This reminded us of Lake Leelanau. I love Northern Michigan!!
