Last week we had the pleasure of having my parents stay here at the hotel. They were right across the hall which made bouncing back and forth between rooms pretty quick and easy. We had a lot of fun showing them around. On Saturday evening we caught an early dinner at the Blue Moose (tradition for anyone who visits us), went for an exciting ride over a couple of passes (rutty, dirt road but the scenery was well worth it), then took the gondola to the top of the mountain where we watched a beautiful sunset. On Sunday we brought them to church then drove over to my new school. They were even able to see my new classroom!! Later that afternoon we decided to walk around town and take in all of the sights, sounds, and smells of the Vail Farmer's Market and Art Show. On Monday Andy and Dad drove to Denver to pick up our new Vibe :) and mom and I waited around for the delivery guys to drop off our new couch. The old one was deemed by the repair guy as "beyond repair" so we were given a credit toward a new piece of furniture. Tuesday was exciting because Mom, Dad, and I decided to drive down to Glenwood Canyon for a hike up to Hanging Lake. The Hanging Lake trail is no walk in the park...it is an uphill journey over rocks and a few steep drop offs. Like everyone on their way down will tell you though....the hike is definitely worth it!! On Wednesday we took a little drive in the new car and on the motorcycle. We had a lot of fun switching drivers and riders throughout the day and were continually amazed by the sights along our journey from Vail to Glenwood Springs to Aspen over Independence Pass to Leadville and back to Vail. The whole trip took about 8 hours but we were rewarded with some wonderful picture taking opportunities. Thursday was a bit overcast but it allowed us the time to do a little baking. In addition to the fun we had baking, mom and I experienced something new. We've all been locked out of a room before but have you ever been locked in a room? Mom and I were. All of a sudden the mom was unable to turn the doorknob. Well, that's not completely accurate...the doorknob would turn but nothing would happen. So we called my dad and asked him to try turn the doorknob on the outside. That didn't work either!! We were stuck! The next call was to Andy who came upstairs to assess the situation then called maintenance for some back up. Eventually we were able to disassemble the doorknobs a bit and soon after that my dad slid his card in the crack between the door and door jam which resulted in an open door! We were free. Thanks dad for fixing our door! On Friday morning my parents left town and began the long drive home. We had so much fun and can not wait until they come back for another visit!!
